Swisslog wins Supply Chain Award for tri-temperature flow AutoStore solution in France

Swisslog France SAS and La Réserve des Saveurs win prestigious Supply Chain Award

den 3 juli 2024

Swisslog France SAS, in partnership with La Réserve des Saveurs, has been honoured with the prestigious "Kings of the Supply Chain 2024" award, presented by Supply Chain Magazine at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris. The award recognises the groundbreaking work implemented by Swisslog and La Réserve des Saveurs in revolutionizing storage and order preparation processes.

La Réserve des Saveurs, a leading food distributor in the Rhône-Alpes region, collaborated with Swisslog to develop a state-of-the-art storage and preparation facility. Although the facility is not yet operational, it represents a pioneering innovation in France and will be among the first in the world to handle tri-temperature flows. The project, which integrates two AutoStore systems under the control of Swisslog’s SynQ WMS/WCS, addresses ambient, chilled, and frozen products within a single streamlined system.

Innovative tri-temperature handling

The facility features two interconnected AutoStore modules, one for ambient conditions and another for chilled products, with a dedicated frozen section embedded within. This integration allows for centralized picking and replenishment, ensuring efficiency and precision. Fresh products, such as fruits and vegetables, are kept separately in open baskets to maintain hygiene and practicality, completing the goods coming from the AutoStore. The order is then placed on a pallet, wrapped and labelled before being loaded onto a truck or lorry.

The automated system has enabled La Réserve des Saveurs to increase its preparation rate from 55 to 290 lines per hour, achieving a remarkable 400% productivity improvement. In addition, the facility has quintupled its storage capacity while maintaining the ability to double its inventory without relocating.

Supporting sustainable practices

The solution has significantly reduced energy consumption and carton waste. Reusable crates have replaced traditional cardboard boxes, leading to a 1.8-ton reduction in cardboard use and a halving of daily truck deliveries.

Alexandre Grandjean, Entrepreneur at La Réserve des Saveurs, added, "The implementation of this cutting-edge solution aligns perfectly with our vision for the future. It not only enhances our operational efficiency but also reinforces our dedication to sustainable practices. We are proud to set a new standard in the food distribution industry."

Excellence in logistics automation

The "Kings of the Supply Chain 2024" award highlights the significant impact of this project on the performance and sustainability of La Réserve des Saveurs. The solution is expected to be replicated at other sites, further extending its benefits.

Philippe Dugougeat, Managing Director of Swisslog France SAS, stated, "We are thrilled to receive this recognition. Our partnership with La Réserve des Saveurs showcases the potential of innovative automation solutions in transforming supply chain operations. This award is a testament to our commitment to excellence and sustainability in logistics automation."
