The automated solution

HelloFresh partnered with Swisslog to implement an advanced automated distribution center in Irving, Texas, to meet the growing demand and menu expansion. The core of this solution was the AutoStore system, known for its reliability, density, and speed. Swisslog’s expertise in automation control was crucial in integrating AutoStore with SynQ software, a unified platform that manages warehouse execution and inventory. This integration allowed HelloFresh to maintain high levels of freshness, accuracy, and predictability in their shipments.

The new distribution center enabled HelloFresh to handle increased throughput and productivity while minimizing the impact of menu expansion on fulfillment processes.

Operational impact for HelloFresh

The implementation of the automated distribution center has significantly transformed HelloFresh’s operations. Now operating at full capacity, the system integrates manual picking with AutoStore, enhancing throughput, quality, and accuracy. The solution allows HelloFresh to process high volumes efficiently and maintain precise sequencing, even with the introduction of more diverse menu options.

The flexibility of the system has eliminated the complexities typically associated with menu expansion, allowing the company to scale without disruptions. HelloFresh continues to achieve its operational goals, with a focus on further innovation and optimization.

We were pleased with the quality of the implementation and with the ability of SynQ to integrate with the other systems we have. With a solution this complex, we did not want too many systems and SynQ was able to control most of the physical processes within the DC, from the upstream picking through the downstream shipping sorter.
