The solution
Alliance Entertainment, a premier distributor of music, movies, toys, and electronics, sought to enhance its order fulfillment capabilities with advanced automation.
Swisslog implemented a 52,000+ bin AutoStore system, supported by 57 Black Line robots, designed to handle larger bins that allow vinyl records to be stored vertically, preventing damage. Custom bin inserts enabled each bin to hold up to 16 SKUs, maximizing storage efficiency and warehouse space utilization.
The results
The AutoStore system has allowed Alliance to consolidate inventory, moving video games, consoles, and controllers into the Shepardsville distribution center, while eliminating the need for a 190,000 sq ft facility.
This has resulted in reduced fulfillment costs and increased operational efficiency. The system’s flexibility also enables future expansion, with additional stations already prepared to support growth without disrupting operations.
