Swisslog GmbH: Dr. Martin Thomaier named new Director
Buchs, 30 September 2020 – Dr. Martin Thomaier, 44, has been a member of the Management Board of Swisslog GmbH, Dortmund since July 2020. The mechanical engineer will now assume the role of Technical Director, working alongside Commercial Director Gerd Jennissen and Sales Director Heinz Ennen.
Thomaier joined Swisslog in 2018 after his tenure at Schenck Process GmbH, Oberhausen. With a wealth of experience in national and international automation and software projects, he was entrusted with heading up the Technology & Competence Center (TC). In this division, Swisslog develops and tests new logistics technologies and readies them for market.
Headquartered in Buchs, Switzerland, the company has been growing in Germany for many years and continues to expand its Dortmund location as a technology hub. This past March, Swisslog laid the foundation stone for a new office building with space for up to 330 staff members, scheduled for completion in 2021.
The Technology & Competence Center is testimony to Swisslog’s corporate strategy of positioning itself as a highly capable supplier of innovative logistics technologies, and no longer simply an integrator on the market. Swisslog has successfully distributed its core technologies such as the proven Vectura stacker crane, the ProMove pallet conveyor system or the Tornado miniload crane via integration partners worldwide. Thomaier is committed to further improving the dynamics of the technology division and representing Swisslog GmbH internally and externally alongside the other members of the Management Board.
