Swisslog Logistics Automation, leading provider of best-in-class warehouse automation and software, will implement CarryPick for Von Maur’s e-commerce fulfillment center in Davenport, Iowa. Von Maur is an upscale department store chain operating 32 stores in 15 states, including Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma and Wisconsin, and continues to expand.
The Von Maur brand is known for an enjoyable and unique shopping experience. The backbone of this experience is a wide selection of brand-name merchandise, open and attractive store design, amenities that enhance the customer experience and a strong commitment to excellent customer service.
Swisslog’s CarryPick solution is a mobile system for flexible, scalable e-commerce fulfillment. CarryPick’s automated guided vehicles (AGVs) continuously supply workstations with mobile racks. This flexible new approach to automation supports different sizes and weights of products, provides the ability to add racks and AGVs quickly as storage volume increases and enables equipment to be easily moved from one warehouse to another. The goods-to-person solution is orchestrated by Swisslog’s SynQ warehouse management software.
According to Von Maur’s Holly Danler, Director of E-Commerce, “We explored all options and determined that Carry Pick was the clear winner. Continuing with goods-to-person technology is a priority for us.”
Markus Schmidt, President Swisslog Logistics Automation Americas, commented, “We are very pleased to be supporting the rapidly growing e-commerce business of a great American brand like Von Maur. Many retail and e-commerce companies are rapidly adopting goods-to-person automation and turning to Swisslog because of our unique automated systems and software, as well as our vast experience implementing and supporting those systems."
