Rapunzel Naturkost GmbH, Germany: Expansion of food production warehouse
Rapunzel Naturkost, a leading organic food manufacturer in Europe, needed to expand its storage capacity to meet growing production demands. In 2022, Rapunzel collaborated with Swisslog to build an automated high-bay warehouse at its headquarters in Legau, Germany. The new facility integrates seamlessly with existing operations and was completed on schedule despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.
Optimized storage and logistics
The high-bay warehouse, featuring 9,280 storage locations, uses Swisslog's Vectura storage and retrieval cranes, pallet conveyor technology, and automated guided vehicles (AGVs). Built partially underground, it maximizes space and storage density.
The automated system ensures efficient handling of incoming and outgoing goods, significantly enhancing Rapunzel's logistics.
Impressive results for food manufacturer
The facility has improved efficiency, simplifying order picking to a single level and reducing storage temperature zones.
The warehouse handles up to 80 double cycles per hour, with the incoming goods area processing approximately 60 pallets per hour. These upgrades position Rapunzel to meet increasing demands effectively.
