The new era of Logistics Automation Is Here - Step into the future with Swisslog at CEMAT 2018

04 June 2018

The latest intralogistics solutions that combine warehouse automation with advanced robotics, human-machine collaboration, virtual and augmented reality will be showcased by Swisslog and KUKA at this year’s CeMAT Expo in Melbourne from July 24-26, Stand F12

Swisslog’s advanced automated warehousing solutions are future-proof and are applicable to visitors in major industries across Australia, including food and beverage, retail and ecommerce and pharmaceuticals.

At this year’s CeMAT Expo, Swisslog and its parent company KUKA will be partnering to demonstrate the recent advances in Industry 4.0, intralogistics and manufacturing solutions as well as a cloud-based software platform that allows users to access analytics of their future-ready systems from any device at any time.

Recent advances in virtual reality technologies allow customers to tour a digital shadow of a system which is not yet built.  An organisation can mitigate risks by running real-time data to test and validate the output of the system. Swisslog will showcase these industry leading virtual and augmented technologies at CEMAT 2018.  “Visitors can interact with virtual and augmented reality applications to experience first-hand the added value that virtual warehouse planning and pick-by-vision picking deliver,” said Mr Meier

In addition to the latest robotics and technologies Swisslog will also be exhibiting its SynQ software, which uses Industry 4.0 principles to provide condition monitoring and cyber-physical systems with a digital shadow to improve warehouse efficiencies by remotely interacting with their solution.

KUKA Robotics Australia CEO and Managing Director, Mr Greg Sale, says that to better understand the combination of manual handling at the workstation with picking by a robot – in other words, human-robot collaboration – visitors will be introduced to LBR iiwa. This sensitive, lightweight robot from KUKA can work hand-in-hand with a human operator without any safety fence. LBR iiwa is a collaborative robot, or “cobot,” which unlike a traditional industrial robot, does not work in a cordoned-off area, but interacts directly and flexibly with employees.

“These technologies are driving new innovations in warehousing, logistics and supply chains, and making operations more efficient and safe. Many of these technologies are highly visual, so an exhibition like CeMAT is the ideal platform to engage with visitors and show them just how advanced robotics and automation has become,” said Mr Sale.

Swisslog & KUKA will have expert staff on hand to discuss its extensive range of modular and automated logistics and warehousing solutions that can adapt and grow in parallel with a business.
