SKF Italia: implementing a new automated warehouse without losing a single day of production
SKF is a leading global company specializing in the production and sale of bearings, seals, mechatronics, lubrication systems and services. The head office in Italy is in Airasca (Turin), where the factory manufacturing products for the automotive industry operates and the warehouse gathering all Italian production for global distribution is located.
Improved storage capacity and process efficiency
To improve storage capacity and process efficiency, SKF is undertook a major modernization and retrofit of the automated warehouse and implemented a “goods to person” concept in the material picking process.
Thanks to new Vectura pallet stacker cranes, plant downtime is a thing of the past. The new warehouse benefits from higher performance, better ergonomics, greater flexibility and consumption savings, as well as improved operational safety. Today, SKF can manage new types of packaging thanks to the new picking area which has sped up the shipment preparation process.
