Stellantis opens state-of-the-art distribution center featuring Swisslog automation
18. heinäkuuta 2024
Stellantis, a leading global automaker and provider of innovative mobility solutions, recently announced the opening of a new, state-of-the-art Mopar Parts Distribution Center in Brampton, Ontario.
The 513,000-square-foot facility houses nearly 55,000 Mopar brand service parts with capacity to ship up to an estimated two million orders annually. It was built to support Stellantis dealerships and customers in the Greater Toronto area, Quebec and Eastern Canada.
The distribution center is the first Stellantis facility in North America to feature AutoStore empowered by Swisslog. The automation system, operating on synchronized intelligence from Swisslog’s SynQ software, uses 27 robots to retrieve parts from 43,000 bins stacked within 11,700 square feet of storage space. Swisslog automation experts worked closely with Stellantis to design and implement an automation solution that would meet its operational needs and help it achieve their business objectives
Colman Roche, VP of AutoStore Solutions, Swisslog Americas, joined three other members of the Swisslog team at the ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the distribution center and showcase the features and capabilities of the automation system.
Stellantis said the facility represents a significant milestone for the company, highlighting its ongoing investment in enhancing operational excellence. The company explained that the automation system was designed to support its dedicated workforce and significantly increases the speed, precision and reliability of part procurement within the facility. It also supports the company’s commitment to continue to reduce its carbon footprint.
