VARNER, Sweden: The 'world’s best warehouse' delivers superior competitiveness in apparel

Established in Norway 1962 by Frank Varner, VARNER is today one of the largest fashion retailers in the Nordics, with around 9,000 employees, 6 online stores, 1,200 physical stores and the fashion brands Cubus, Dressman, Carlings, Bik Bok, Volt and Junkyard.

An automated omni-channel solution

In 2012, VARNER centralized its logistics into one department to take a strategic hold on its supply chain management. This was the starting point for an impressive development of the company's logistics and supply chain, including the establishment of a highly automated central warehouse.

VARNER decided to centralize and adopt a more strategic approach to its supply chain and logistics to ensure a more efficient and reliable supply flow to its stores and end-consumers. With this in mind, the company partnered with Swisslog to establish a modern, highly automated central distribution center, in Vänersborg, Sweden.

Improved competitiveness

VARNER's ambitious and comprehensive automation journey has yielded numerous positive outcomes and business benefits.

The most significant of these is the strengthened overall competitiveness achieved through increased efficiency, precise deliveries, and enhanced growth capacity.

Internally we have had the goal to build ‘the world´s best warehouse’ in order to challenge ourselves during the project and after. We have succeeded in this ambition.
